Fished yesterday (thursday) aboard the "idle wake". Ran ten miles straight north of vermillion. Started fishing about 9 a.m. and had 18 fish by 12:30. We only kept bigger fish and threw back at least 4 or 5. One came on a rainbow trout reefrunner, 200' back off big board, another on a "huckleberry"?? reefrunner, 160' back with 1 oz. snap weight in front of it. A few came on downriggers/spoons about 6' behind ball. Remainder came on big dipsys. 80 to 90' on #1 setting and 110 to 120 on #3 setting. Hottest spoon was large stinger "chicken wing". Some said rasberry something or another was hot but all we caught was white bass with it. Cat/dog also worked..anything with orange in it. We were in 50' of water and most marks were at or near the bottom. Awesome day!!

To be honest....i cant remeber exactly..but i think it was like..the 36/24 (middle numbers). Just about ten miles straight north out of vermillion. Although I talked to my buddy tonight and he said they only got 14 today...he thinks they might of moved in south a bit.

The hot bite Tuesday before the winds and rain started was at the 36/26 to the 38/25. it was still mostly a spoon bite with some being taken on deep diving cranks. today it is very rough out there right now, and getting stirred up pretty good. good luck and good fishin.

Yes we did get some , We had 1 at 11 pounds, and another about 9, the other 7 were all real good fish, but the bigger ones took off after we had to come in, it was fast and furious at the 36/26 lines, they had a lot of real pigs. as i am typing this 8 am,Thursday morning, the guys on the radio (ch 79) are saying the lake is decent after the high winds yesterday. the water isnt bad as far as clarity, and the waves are right now 2 to 3 foot waves and on the down side. it looks as thoughit may be a decent weekend(hopefully) the temps are supposed to be in the 60,s. we will see. good luck and good fishin.

Marc,
There was an early run probally two weeks ago now but most of those fish are up in the Vermillion river now. I've heard of a few being taken out on the lake but not a lot. I may spend a little time looking for silver jumping fish this weekend.

I will take 3-5 footers all day long. Makes for a perfect drift.

A buddy of mine will be up on Sunday, so I would appreciate it if anyone can confirm that idea that the eyes have moved in closer to shore. Thanks!
