Fished all day off Vermillion in about 40 feet of water. Managed 2 limits of small to medium size eyes. One was about 5lbs and several in the 3-4 lb. class. Most of my fish came off dipseys and spoons but a few came on reef runners 125 back. The lake was very calm and there were rain showers on and off all day. Slow fishing but a nice day on the lake. 27/27 area. Paul aboard Amanda Too

Paul.
I heard you calling idlewake. tried calling ya back but no answer. your radio sounded kinda faint. I was at the helm, Paul's in florida but due back end of week. I'm assuming your report was for Saturday?
We tried going out this morning (sunday) but was a little rough for us.
We managed 7 eyes on Saturday with biggest at 9.25 lbs. Odd thing was, we couldnt catch one on a spoon! We had 4 dipseys out with spoons but never took one with them. All fish came on reefrunners. Our hottest was black headed wonderbread, about 140' back off inline boards. We even put the same color in a ripstick on a dipsy and caught fish on it as well as a gold/black ripstick on a dipsy.

Saturday was a good day for us. We put 16 fish in the boat around the 25 -27 and 27-29. We just had one that was 29". I would say the best for us was Barbie and trick of treat from 75' to 125' on inline boards. Very slow .9 to 1.3 was best.

There's probably a few of us wondering what color "Barbie" and "Trick of Treat" are. Could you please enlighten us? Its hard to keep up with the new color spoons and reefs. Thank-you.

We also fished the Vemilion area Saturday with not much to post. We were in 3 boats and only managed 7 walleye and one steelhead. Most walleye came on copper raspberry spoons, all under 4 lbs. Biggest walleye 8 lb came on Blue/Chrome deep reefrunner 120 back on small board. 8 lb steelhead came on blackheaded wonderbread ripstick back 110. We marked a lot of fish, however we just couldn't get them to go! Nice calm day, Good friends, fun anyway!

Barbie is like a Purple headed Wonderbread. Trick or Treat is Orange and White with black bone lines. Den at the Outpost, Carl at Walski's and Woody at Cranberry should have them.

We had a tough day saturday as well. We hooked up with several nice fish but didn't get but 1 small 2 pounder in the boat. Several things went wrong for us but the kicker was when a boat named "Up Yours II" ran over one of my boards from behind. While he was pulling his boards we saw him pull 3 fish off his lures so I know we were in the right spot. Ronnie Rhodes and Sundance were also in the area and we got to watch both of them net fish all day long too. Can anyone say frustrating? Most fish that I heard caught this weekend were on cranks.

Marc,

Sounds like his boat was aptly named!;) I hate it when that happens! See you this weekend.

Just like Marc said. The Barbie is a wonder bread with a purple head and spots.
Trick or treat is a orange head with a white body and black wish bones on the sides.

Fished north of Sawmill on Sunday at the 28-31/32 lines. Had nine eyes in the first three hours when the wind was honking out of the north (at first some nasty 3-5's). Then the wind switched to southwest, and the switch turned off the bite. Really wierd. Caught nothing after the wind switch. Best setup was the big dipsy at 65 back on a three setting pulling a ripstick. Cranks outproduced spoons. I then went north of Cranberry, and couldn't get a bite. Nice day anyway with the biggest at 8 lbs.
