I hate to start rumors, but i was talking to a PWT pro last night. He said that most pro's don't think the RCL tour is going to happen. I hope this isn't true. Can anyone clarify this? I was planning on fishing the cirsuit. Thanks.

I'm sure that they are going through some frustrating times right now with the OMC thing. It takes time to negotiate the kind of contracts that they have, re:major corporate, but I did see that they now have some more infomation on their web site.

They have posted more tournament site info and the payback, and it really looks good. Pays back 60 places all cash.

Jerry:

Let me guess, the pro in question isn't eligible to fish the RCL? I have sensed a lot of resentment among the non-RCL sponsored pros. A lot of them would love to see RCL fail. Not all of them mind you, but a large number. I think that RCL is great for walleye fishing, as I would if OMC had a national circuit (I don't own any OMC products). Enjoy!

Hi Lund Dude,

No, the guy who said this plans to fish the RCL but he's heard from other sources that this might not come off. Like I said, I hate spreading rumors. I probably should have written directly to Sonny Reynolds, but I thought maybe someone else would have some input on this.

Lund_Dude,

I don't own an RCL boat (I'm on the Fisher state team), and every single one of the PWT Pro's I've talked to who DOESN'T own an RCL boat is very supportive of the RCL tournament circuit. In fact, competition is good and it benefits all tournament fisherman. Why would anyone associated with tournament angling be against more money, more exposure, and more credibility for the sport as a whole???

ANY resentment I've sensed or heard from "non" RCL anglers is the fact that some of the publicity surrounding last year's Championship event mentioned "best" anglers, etc. Fact is, this is an owner's circuit, not an "open pro" circuit.

I'm all for the RCL tourneys and hope they do fabulous. I just don't want to read "The best anglers in the world competed..." It should read, "The best anglers who own or are sponsored by RCL competed in...." And when you boil it down, it's probably just semantics in the minds of 99.9% of anyone out there who cares anyway.

Personally, I can't see the RCL NOT happening. This is a good group of people and companies that are accustomed to success and deservedly so. Change is good, and I'm glad to see it.

You guys are killing me. The RCL is a go. The only thing left is to get the final strokes done on the contracts with the motor sponsors. Motor Sponsors are playing games, knowing that they stand to make a better deal if they press Sonny and his group to the 11th hour.

Corporate decisions of this magnitude are not wrapped up in a few days. They take months to get done.

Name the pro and let's see what he has to say about his sources for his opinion.

Amen Todd!
The 1st tourney is less than 2 months away I'd hope they got moving faster, Guy's have to worry about time off! If they don't go it won't be a huge blow, sponsers are getting harder for these circits they are all competing for the same dollar! It's sad that a guy thats a good walleye fishermen has to run a specific boat brand to enter any tourney.I wish we could just take the top 20 from all the larger circits out there and have a champion THE BEST OF THE BEST tourney! Then we could see more sponsers, more money&more TV coverage.
Each guys boat company,an tackle sponsers could pay so much towards this championship,ESPN coverage, contestants pay $500. and you fish for the pot of gold!BUT JUST DREAMIN-- it's all about the pocket book of RCL! There not doing it for you or me it's to sell there boats~
Hope they CAN pull it off WALLEYE Tournaments need it!!!!!

I read a letter this weekend to a RANGER dealer that confirmed YAMAHA IS the motor of choice for the RCL. This letter was from RANGER BOATS.

I just finished talking to Sonny Reynolds and he said it is getting closer. There were a lot of little details and had to be done before they could print any entry forms. These are almost all taken care of.
I went down to Florida to watch the FLW bass event there and it was run flawlessly. I am confident that RCL will be the same. Give it a little time to get everything under control.
It is the first year and there will be little things go wrong. A little patience will pay off. Maybe the field won't be full for the first event, who cares. It is another avenue for an angler to fish strong competition and have a chance at some good money.
This is going to be the best thing for a professional angler since the PWT opened the door for big dollar tournaments.

I was in the general store in Heyville, which is down the hard road a piece from Flippin, which is where they make Ranger boats, and I heard a guy who knows a guy who works at Ranger say the same thing. He said it came directly from a guy who once met Forrest Wood himself.
