Just wondering if anyone has fished the front range lately? How about Lonetree, Boyd, or Horsetooth? Any luck anywhere?

Went to Boyd about two weeks ago and caught a couple of little bass on jigs and had several tenative hits on slabs. It has been pretty slow with this weather. Lonetree is shore only now with waterfowl season going on. It was fishing o.k. from the boat until then. I havent been up to Horsetooth in a while now, things look encouraging there with the shad base established and the walleyes are looking much better. I know back around Labor Day there were several big wipers caught and there have been a few nice walleyes caught. Not much of a report and providing a few things work out, I will probably head to Big Mac in a couple of days. Collie

Live to fish, fish to live!
Going to give Chatfield a try tommorow. Will let you know how we did. Went to Carter 2 weekends ago. Just slimers then. There web site says that the Kokes are running now. I just need to get that 30" Walleye this year and I think this weekend is the weekend for success. Good luck and maybe I'll see you on Chatfield tommorow. I'm in the 16' Fisher with the Merc 60 4-stoke.

Went to Horsetooth yesterday and was skunked. Marked a lot of bait from the boat ramp north into the main body of the lake( actually there was a bunch of shad dimpling right off of the docks). Didnt mark and fish with them. Also marked a large "ball" infront of Satanka cove at the north end, again nothing with them. I spoke with a guy who was getting off at the same time and he said he caught and released on 26" Laker. He said he has caught several this year, so either they survived the draw down or came from Grand Lake down the "Pipe". Collie

Zip at Pueblo yesterday. Fished from 2-6 p.m. Tried spooning, lindy rigging with minnows and then tried throwing cranks along the d@m at dusk.

I can't remember the last time I saw a positive report from Pueblo? Come to think of it, you are the only person I know who ever catchs keepers there anyway. I didn't even bother to go down there this summer, what do you think is wrong with Pueblo?

Art, How big was that Tiger Muskie that was caught down there? And on the topic of different species have you or anyone you know ever caught a Tench out of there? They look like a smooth carp and as the story goes they were in a pond that borders the River up by Texas Creek or Cotopaxi and were able to make their descent. When I was younger we caught two or three of the silly things, I was just curious if you have run across one. Collie

Rumors about walleye going down the tubes... either the Bessemer Ditch or the through the dam due to the low water. There were many reports of limits of nice walleye being caught earlier this in the Arkansas below the D@m this spring. And lots of shad and low water makes easy pickings for walleye to eat and ignore a lure. We will find out next spring when the spawn is taking place. I saw a picture of a nice musky at Hunters Cove and it look to be under 20 lbs, nice fish. I have yet to catch a tench although I have snagged some 11" shad. Collie, are you John C. from the CWA?

We lost the ability to gather eggs at Bonny almost four years ago because of persistant drought. Same story at Horsetooth. Two summers ago high water temp, sewage runoff and high nitrogen levels may of caused a partial die off at Cherry Creek? If Art's fears turn out to be true about Pueblo, where the #### are the DOW going to gather the 100 million eggs we need every year?
We better hope Horsetooth recovers quickly now that the dam work is completed, and that Chatfield replaces Pueblo as our Number one egg source?
Maybe if we are lucky, all those big gals are still finning in Pueblo and they are just stuffed to the gills?
Collie, are there enough walleyes in Carter to net there? How about Boyd and Lonetree?

The D.O.W. has sent nets in Carter in the past. One aspect of the special regulation that was passed up there, was based on Carter as a back up source. It was presented that it could be a back up source in case of drought or if the weather fowled operations in other areas, it is usually a few weeks behind the other lakes inturns of spawning time. I would wager that Horsetooth will be an option soon. I am not too sure about Boyd or Lonetree and I know that they set nets back in September so Jay Stafford would be in the know there. Collie
