perch fishing off of cleveland has been terrific. I usually go out from east 72nd street, just off of the I-90 freeway. You can get bait at "Shines Bait" on East 55th St., again, just south off of I-90. I will put in a plug for Mike at Shines: the man has ALWAYS given good info as to if the fish are biting and at what depth. Lately, I've been going out to 45 foot depth and have been slaying 11-12 inchers (when the weather cooperates) with an occasional 13-14 incher. Right on the bottom, the strikes have felt like your sinker (1/2 to 5/8 oz) is stuck to a magnet. The fish turn on,, then turn off...you just have to be there when they turn on! Believe me...the fish are there and it sure is a lot of fun, especially if you've got some little kids with you. 45 feet is about 1 mile out from the breakwall. sometimes you can get them right at the lighthouse. Mike will get you good infor. Good luck and watch the weather

Im very familiar with Mike, I call him often to find out lake and fishing reports. How long will the guy in the bait bus at Gordon Park be there??? I hope to fish perch until ice. Anywhere else between cleveland and Grand River Bait in Painesville to get Shiners late in the year????

Hey Bri,
Looks like friday is shaping up to be a really good day. SW blow and a fairly warm day too. I'm ready to go if you are. This weekend is full with the Ohio State game and then Sunday is Browns v Steelers so......there is a fridge full of 12oz curls, a fryer ready for some jumbo hot wings (substitute perch fillets for all you fish crazed punks, pick your poison):9, and a huge, plush lazy-boy with my name all over it. So if you want to join in let me know. If need be we can drop a line right out the back door into the lake so that you can get your fishing fix for the day without all the fuss of driving up to the big lake. LOL

Do you ever net your own minnows? This time of the year you should be able to get all you want in the rivers or by the ramps. Either with a 36" x 36" or you can make a long one with the 4' x 8' nets and wood stakes. We do this in the winter/spring and in the fall/winter. Some days one toss of the net and your set for all day of perching.
Good Luck!!
