Another day or two should make a big difference up there wally. Still look like Nestle Quik? WV. gun deer starts tomorrow here. Will be hunting tomorrow morning, then thats all for me here. Planning on hunting Ohio pretty much this season, but planning on coming up to HPD either Tues. or Wed. The water should be down quite a bit by then I hope. Tom do any good? Them fish should be lousy in there after this high water. Anyone want to go just holler, plenty of room in the ole barge. Russell

rick did you run into rodger down river?? i ended up going down by the island after you pulled out for 1/2 hour or so and got ziltch, oh well like i said if the water just cleans up and the debris settles down i think you may find that place loaded with hungary fish, i,m planning of a 1/2 day there on turkey day and their not calling for any amounts of rain around here so thursday could be a whole new ballgame, you know that story you told me this afternoon about mike in the creek ROFLOL!!!!!!!!!! so don,t complain to much, i hope your ok, like i said if the fella at the bait store told me what is was really like i wouldn,t have went those were some suck #### conditions wern,t they oh well gotta take the good with the bad sometimes, talk to ya later.

Same story, different area. Freeport gave up a few small eyes (4) but the water was actually up a little more Sun than it was Sat eve. The colored water was surging into Buff Creek more than the creek was pushing out seemed like. Mix that with the debris and fishing was definetly slow. Guys on bank doing better than I was in the boat. I did do some jigging. Chrts bucktail with shiners. It was about 1/2 & 1/2 jigs and slip rigs. The fish at the edge of the murky/clear line liked the jig presentation better.

wish i could go thursday, but having the in-laws in for turkey day. ya it sure was muddy but like you said tom, take the bad w/ the good. beats the #### out of work. my knee sure was sore for a few days. i hope to be meeting mike down on the river friday morning. that is if he can get an early kitchen pass. but either way i'll be there friday. ya roger was down below. he said he hadn't touched a fish and was going to the bar and get something to eat. he seemed to be a pretty good guy. we were marking alot of nice fish down below but only had those two on. i need one more allegheny fix befor i hit the woods on monday. let me know how you do on turkey day tom, and if your going on friday. tight lines rick

rick i,m not so sure now what i,m going to do it seems the river is getting faster rather than slowing down they must be letting a ton of water out up at kinzua.
Tom, was up at HPD today. Put in on the southside. Shoulda just went deer hunting. Got the big goose egg today. Fished for about 2 hours all around the docks. Using jigs and a deadstick with 1/2 ounce egg sinker and big sucker minnies. Couldnt keep the bait down. Water is just a pouring over. Dont believe it will be any good for a few more days anyway. The bar that the shore fishermen usually are is completely covered. Saw a guy on the shore next to the lock and went over and talked to him for a minute. Said he caught 2 sauger. He was tight lining with nice size minnows. Asked him how much lead he was using. Said an ounce. Better days ahead though.:-) Russell

Man you talk about being late for dinner! It was Thanksgiving evening when I made a fisherman's biggest mistake. I promised the wife that I would drive her to the mall on Friday. As it turned out, I drove her to Waterworks, Highlands, Monroeville, and Ross Park and it lasted from yesterday morning until about 3:00 this afternoon. This is the first chance to check the message board and I see your invite. Hopefully we'll get another chance over the next few weeks. Give me a few days notice (EMAIL IS BEST) and I'll surely be ready to go. AGAIN, THANKS FOR THE CHANCE MO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry it was last minute. I don't think it was any good anyway. I went down there off the bank and it was 2-3 ft. higher than last weekend!! Will keep in touch though the boat is always ready. MO

River was high but calm at Cheswick and Harmarville @ Deer Creek. Caught a striper/white bass up at Cheswick... Lock 3 Bait was out of minnows... Any other good access areas nearby? Where/what is the access in New Ken/Arnold like?
The Tarentum Ramp is right under the Tarentum bridge (Rt. 366) - good ramp, just re-done last year. Good bait shop right near the ramp. The Springdale Ramp is also on that pool, but it's a lot closer to Lock 3 than to Lock 4. You could lock through from Springdale down to Harmarville, but it's way easier and quicker to just use the Deer Creek launch. Deer Creek is pretty steep, though - be careful it doesn't ice up while you're on the water. Take some salt with you - I've seen it ice up when the sun gets low in the evening this time of year.
