I will be in the Hayward area over Christmas. Any suggestions on lakes to ice fish to have a chance on catching a walleye or two? I am familiar with the area as I Musky fish in the summer. I have never been there in the winter and I am pretty excited. Any suggestions? Thanks, Joe

I'd call Pastika's bait shop in Hayward. Leon has always done right by me. I'd also consider, Grindstone, Couderay, Flowage, Big Round to name a few.
Good luck and let us know how you did.

I used to catch walleye fearly steady on middle o'clare back in the 80's. Not sure if that is the way to spell it, it has been awhile. Sucker minnows on tip ups and small minnows on a jig. A dark shak helps see the bottom in 13-15 ft. so you can pull it away from the little ones.

a little known lake for walleyes, with trophy potential is lake winter in winter wis.try fishing the edge of the old river channel, the locals do not give up there secrets easy, however i lived on the lake and know its secrets for large walleyes with no crowds.use large fat heads as this is stained water, and is relatively shallow max.depth 22 ft.good luck
