Perchjerker - I'll give you a call if it looks like we can get out. Handline or jig. I'll check the water color.

Been shore fishing near Wyandotte and Rotary lately. Water looks the best it's been in a while.

Fatboy -
Just thought I'd let you know that while your freezing out there chasing those eyes I'll be down here in Florida catching slab crappies. Will be out in the morning and can't wait. Just thought I'd rub it in...see you when I get back

Went out late last night. edison area. water was as clear as I have seen it since oct. trolled.nothing ! need some shiners and need to jig. Perchjerker- you up for some jigging ?
Shadking - enjoy the weather down there ! I'm already getting that seasonal blues thing ! Maybe a trip to cabela's will help ! It's not looking like I will have to winterize the boat this year because if I don't get out again until april the stabil in the gas should be enough.

sunday 12/28...7:30 am bolles harbour had from 1/4 to 1/2inches of ice at the ramp and an ice jam out by the point before getting into erie....broke the ice with my trailer/boat, after seeing how thick it was and the ice jam we gave that up.
next we went to hellensburg (rasin river)....open water but ramp was covered with a thin sheet of ice. then off to sterling state park...frozen up solid at least as thick as bolles.
erie metro park..open water (38.5 deg) and one ramp still in! clear water for the most part. the wind was blowing pretty hard from the east and the waves getting to the detroit river averaged 2ft and stacked pretty tight. went to the edison discharge near elisabeth park. edison wasn't pumping but the water was 47.5 deg. we only caught shad from 4 to 12 inches....another guy who was there was using live bait and he only got one carp....
it was nice to be able to get out though..

I can always use two at a time ! Thanks !
Went out of Wyandotte today. Jigged from Ecorse ramp to Wyandotte ramp. 1 fish about 3 pounds. Lots of marks though. Found several schools of bait fish. Felt odd fishing in January, but fun none the less.

Out of Wyandotte today also. Water looked good. Trolled all day. Zero for zero. Made a few passes along Edison and didn't even mark one fish. Marked lots along the Wyandotte golf course. Nothing along BASF. 2 good reports back at the ramp from Pier 500 jigging.

How were the shiners at WBR ?

They were closed but if you've got a net, there's millions of them right in the ramp area just a foot or so from shore. Descent size. Hint: they look an awful lot like the ones they sell. ;) Lots of small perch in there too. I'm going down there tomorrow to net some for my rockbass in my tank at home. :)

Fatboy,
Still down south, but I have been ripping the crappies in Florida. Talked to some of the locals, and they got me into fishing at night with spotlights for crappies. What a blast, as soon as the lights draw in the baitfish the bite is on. Caught seven over 14" New Year's night - with the largest being 15 1/2" at 2lbs 3oz. I have to try this technique up north. Will be back to work on Tuesday - talk to you when I get back.
By the way, those minnows along the dock at the WBR are the ones Steve nets and sells. They are usually quality emeralds.
