I was considering trying the area this weekend, could anyone give me an opinion?? Also where would be the best places to launch around there?

Thanks

Brian,

Mazurik public launch is off 163 between Marblehead and Highway Bait. I'd guess a couple of miles west of Marblehead, maybe less. Good wood SP sign on the south side of 163 at the turnoff which is Northshore Blvd.

Catawba public launch is off 53 on the west side of Catawba. Take 53N until you get to the ferry launch at the end, road curves around and your heading S. Name may change from 53 to West Catawba Rd. Turn right/west at golf course (prob.less than a mile), there is a wood SP sign on left/east side at turn but you need to look for it.

Maybe someone can fine tune the directions but these will get you there.

5 to 8's Thurs. Not that I have a clue but you might have a better chance for cleaner water towards Marblehead or the east side of Kelly's. If you do get out and have a chance to post about water color, it will be appreciated.

Good Luck,
jc

B Thomas .. When I was a Lad...just a-babblin' on 'bout the old Erie days-- another of the over-the-hill Grey Panther Gang :)

For late Fall n' Early Spring w/a E to W South breeze, I'd kinda like to put-in @ Turinski's(sp) ramp, just North of the Marblehead litehouse (nada anymore), then cast the South-side litehouse flat/break early in the morn' - then do 10-15 min (from the shore break) drift n' jig w/tail-spinners (todays blade-bait replacements) w/one Med one Low - then move-up n' repeat the same around the point to Lakeside ~ make a run to Mouse n' repeat the same off Catawba round the point/mouse & then return to the Marblehead flat in the eve ~ if the 1st two hours was flat .. make a run to Kelly's Shoal & repeat same on the upwind side if it wasn't too bumpy ...

Twas a 1.5 hr run from our McClure farm to the ramp & more when I moved to Putnam County, but the rewards were great when Erie was called a dead lake:)

Just thought I'd drop a very old plan no# two on you for a backup...
