The walleyes are still snapping in the area. Gull lake has been very good lately. Anglers are seeing plenty of action. Nicer fish are now showing up in recent days. They seemed to have shifted a little deeper than last week. The best depths are 25-35 feet. Golden Shiners are producing on set lines while JBs Jig N Eyes and Rattling Varvints have been the hot jigging baits. Some of the best spots have been Grassy Point, The Rock Pile, and Polks Flat. Round Lake has been OK right at dark. They been catching shallow water walleyes in 10-12 feet. Northerns have also been biting good lately. The best lakes have been North Long, Roy and Upper Gull. Sucker minnows on the weedlines in 12ft has been the ticket. For Crappies and Bluegills some good spots to try would be Upper Gull, Nisswa, or North Long. Glow Jigs and Crappie minnows have been producing some good catches. With the rain we had over the weekend the lakes are void of snow cover and are a little slick. So use caution when walking out on the ice. A Vexilar flasher is a must have this time of the year. It can be the difference of a fish dinner or an empty bucket. Good Luck and I’ll keep the reports coming!
