i am comming to the lake in the spring for 3 to 5 days and need info on all the inside tricks on fishing northerns and walleyes need to be specific. i am taking the family with that consists of all boys very good fisherman thanks for the help grayhair
Where on Oahe are you planning on fishing? Locations depend on where you'll be fishing, but most people will be fishing shallow, pitching jigs to points, and fishing bouncers or rigs with spinners or plain hooks on traditional points in large bays, like the Moreau or Cheyenne rivers. I usually fish shallower than 20 feet in spring, but there's walleyes to be caught everywhere, so don't be afraid to try something if it makes sense.

i live in s.dak and untill last year fished oahe a lot the state has that fishery so screwed up ithink you would be better off going somewhere else unless you like catching 4inch to 10 inch walleyes.if you go early spring [ mar.apr.] and want northerns on oahe go to oakaboga or spring creek back in the warm water.
