Went to catawba state park today.there were Guy's going out.everyone that was heading in and going out were walking.two guy's coming in
said the ice was only 3 1/2 inches and went out around 1.5 mile's.there was no open water as far as you can see.ice around miller's ferry did not look very good.south passage had some very new ice in the middle.looks like catawba by mid to late week should be safe for 4 wheeler's if the current weather hold's.next weekend for sure. There were guy's on the bay some south of the causeway were riding machine's.Talked to a guy that was fishing southbass yesterday. He said he did not catch any but there was at least 8 inches of ice water was only clear to 4 feet down.
Anyone that is going off catawba should use Extreme care.I would wait till there is at least 6 inche's or more.Guy's using air boats said they were breaking thru some 2 inch spot's friday.

Caught 4 perch in 8 hours at the edison bridge on Sunday. Water is very very muddy. Was very slow for everyone. Most I heard caught was 6.

Thanks for the report walleyedog. Hopefully by weekend or next we'll be able to go. I don't consider ice to be safe until about 8 inches on Erie. Keep us informed.
Thanks again,
Rod
