Plan on fishing this lake this spring. Is the spring bite a jig bite? I have not fished the lake before and any help would be appreciated.

You can expect a big bite on this lake anytime but i have had my best big bites in the fall.

I use to fish this lake alot when I had a small boat. My best day's were definately on Fuzzy Grub type jigs, tipped w/minnows. Stingers are a must. These fish are very light biters. I also had success on a Carolina rigged floating Jig head tipped with only a minnow. Some guys swear the rip-rap at night with floating rapala's is the best. My best spot was the deep water South of Dream Bridge, and the mouth of the channel at Moundwood state park. I hope this helps.

This is my home lake and the spring has been good off and on already this year.Husky jerks fished real slow wil produce now. As far as jigs go I like hair jigs with a minnow. Shad colors seem to be the best for me. Water gets muddy try bright colors. Alot of fish are taken trolling on south bank and old Indian lake {dream bridge area }Mound Wood area has given up some real nice saugeyes already this year using blade baits verticle jigging. Bite should realy heat up as water temp. climbs 45 to 55. After temps hit 60it's a trolling game.Rember to fish the riprap any time down here FIND THE SHAD YOU FOUND THE SAUGEYES-easy fish to catch hard to find sometimes

IL is 5800 acres and not measured in square miles like Erie..so detailed info will be at a premium.
