are you like most fisherman & hate to leave your boat in the
parking lot of the hotel, only to discover in the morning that
some fine person has helped himself to equipment. i may have a
solution for anyone who is interested. if you have a boat that is
less than 96" wide and under 22' long. i can put into a solution
that will allow you secure your boat out of the weather & secure
so that when you stay at a motel, you don't have to worry about anyone ripping you off. the bonus to this is that the solution can be pulled by a 1/2 ton pickup, and can be slept in after the
boat is launched.

just tryin to help

If this is aenclosed trailer they are coming popular on the pro circuts. the boat and trailer are put in the enclosed trailer hauled behind a tow vehicle, and when you arrive at your destination you unhook thr one trailer pull out the other

Just a thought...in todays high profile marketing campaigns, how many boat mfgs, motor mfgs that are paying big bucks to fisherman would want there boat hidden inside a box? Granted, a logo could be on the outside, but I think the real deal is a boat on a trailer, pulled by a fisherman who is being paid well by a mfg. Thoughts?

I will protect my owners from those thieving equipment heisters. I bite first and ask questions later. I like to lay in wait untill they slither into the boat.........then I pounce. I like their reaction to my pouncing. Kind of makes me happy to be a dog. RRRRufff.

I saw one at the PWT at Put in Bay, Ohio a few years ago. It was pretty slick. Load it on (or is it in) and drive it away. No more stone chips or bird droppings. Looked like there was plenty of room to work on it, too. Plus I am thinking it would be cheaper than a new garage.

I guess the next thing will be Semi's like NASCAR uses.

i use a 20X28 foot tarp of heavy military canvas, tie it with heavy nylon ropes thrown underneath at each grommet 18" OC- put a cable thru cable eyes at each grommet, and a big ugly mofo padlock hitched real obvious. Along with all the knots, ropes, cables, tight canvas looking kind of tough and ugly, i think its like im some sort of paranoid physcotic vigilanti serial killer, and so far, knock on wood, the low lifes have left my stuff alone. Could be though, my stuff isnt that enticing, and indeed im just paranoid! A trailer??? and i thought i was kind off the deep end, but i understand, if i had a new 1900, i would take some drastic steps too!

I believe Roger "The Bear" Gathman from Iowa builds these. He and Dale Dykes both had them when I fished PWT in 97 and 98

Could have used this big time two years ago in Bay de Noc. My partner and I woke up on the Saturday morning of the MWC tournament and found that our boat and trucks were broken into and everything was gone. The little buggers even took a tin of chew we had in the glove box. We now haul all our gear into our hotel rooms each and every night. All the extra work really sucks, but it beats waking up the morning of a major tournament and finding you have no gear to fish with. I would definately consider using an enclose trailer.

These trailers sound great, but also wouldn't it be a pain to launch and re-trailer without a dock?

hoghunter: it has a front door to allow for access during
launch

This sounds like a great thing to me. Ever since my boat was cleaned out last year I have taken all my gear in to the hotel room with me every night and then loaded it back up each morning. What a pain. One thing I have considered is using strike indicators. I was thinking a guy could place 6 of them just under the edge of the tarp along the top of the gunnels. Then I could take the little cb or whatever you call it and place it on my nightstand in the hotel. If the tarp is lifted, the beeper would sound and wake me up. Then I could go out and introduce myself to the kind fellow who was helping himself to my gear. Does this idea sound like it would work??

I bought a "Dock Cop" for my boat two years ago and so far no problem. It is a alarm that sends a beam thruoghout the lentgh and width of the boat.If you reach under the cover it sets off a Really!! loud alasrm.Works with a remote control. Can also be used when the boat is at a pier.
