I am puting the boat in on Friday and was thinking about trying for eyes around Kelley's or somewhere near west harbor. Any advice? Do you think the big females are in the deep water off kelley's or should I try to shoals?

Ryan,
Anything is possible but I'd suggest you may have more luck working the edges of the reef complex. That is where I will be - not saying you can't/won't catch em off of Kelleys - but I think your odds are better off the reefs trolling full size cranks.

Steve, I am planning on hitting the same area you was in last weekend on Sat. and Sun. but I won't have much time on Friday and thought I might try around Kelley's because it would be a closer run for me. I was out with Brian last weekend. Man was it cold out there last Sunday! We ended up with 3 fish on sat. and 5 on sun. (all 7 fish we caught trolling came on that same bait we told you about). I will be out in my 27' sportcraft sat and sun so I might see you out there. You going to start in the same general area as last weekend?

How was the water clarity around Kelleys this past weekend? Is that why most folks ended up around the reefs?

Eyegetit - I don't know about water clarity at Kelleys Island this past weekend, but I went where I did because it is still March and the biggest concentration of walleye in the entire world are near the Erie reef complex this time of year. Not trying to say you couldn't have caught them at Kelleys but I certainly felt the odds were better near the reefs. We found good water clarity and fish marks south of Round Reef.
Good Luck and if you get up by Kelleys let us know.

Ryan,
I'll be somewhere "inside" of a line from A,B,C,D,E cans towards Port Clinton, Camp Perry, etc. Likely in 20 to 28 feet of water somewhere that I find "clear" water and decent enough marks to get my attention.
I'll hopefully get some reports from others that get out during the week to have an idea of where I'm going to start.
I'll be on channel 79.

Ryan,
Im headed to Gander Mountain now get some more of those Blue Glass HJs! I may be back out Sunday Im not sure it all depends on the weather and how work goes Saturday night. As of now the forecast is iffy but like last week's it could change in a day.
