Anyone know where I can get a "Don Canney Leech Lake" fillet knife? Any opinions what they cost, & if they're worth it? Thanks!

REW has answered the part of your question about where to get one and the cost.

I received the 7 1/2 filet knife as a gift last year. My opinion: I love it, and I think it is a great knife for walleyes.

I posted about a month ago that I called Don at his home to order the Perch model. He was going to Vegas and said to send the check there. Did so and got it back in less than 2 weeks. I already own the larger model and love it. They are pricing, but worth it I feel. I have seen posts about Rapala and other knives, but still they don't compare. I bought a brand new 6" Rapala to compare with the new Leech LK Perch knife. I have been filleting a bunch of perch and after about 50 fish, I noticed a huge difference between the 2. The Leech Lk knife was still as sharp as brand new. My larger model has been owned for over a year after filleting many fish it is just getting to the point of needing resharpening. Don said I could send it to him and have him sharpen it. I know I could do this myself, but he will make it brand new again for only $5. Small price in my opinion. Don't want to mess up the blade. I especially like the curved tip and the double edge. Really aides in filleting and helps keep the important side of the knife razor sharp. Good luck. I think you will enjoy.

Use a butcher's steel each time you fillet fish and it will stay sharp and hold an edge almost indefinitely. Mine is probably about 16 to 18 yrs old and I've not had to sharpen it.

Why spend the big bucks for a fillet knife? Normark fillet knives are up to the task. Touch them up frequently.

For what it is worth, Buck makes an excellent folding fillet knife. Holds an excellent edge and ther isn't any sheath to lose.
