I've seen it mentioined here before, but can someone please tell me the primary difference between Lowerance and Eagle?
Thanks in advance,
John
I emailed a tech rep on basically the same Question in a kinda trickery way on the cabelas unit Lowrance LCG2400 and the response I got, was that it was the same as the Eagle Acura 240 except for the cold cathode backlighting in the Lowrance. Now my big "Q" is are they all the same, they sure look like it and since their made by the same company why would they spend the extra money to manufacture another.

I don't have any experience comparing "identical" models from each but I've been around a few of each. Its a Ford/Mercury kinda thing. From what I've seen the backlight/screen is the difference. I must say that I like Lowrances backlighting MUCH more than Eagles.

What I heard (from a reliable source in the electronics industry) is that Eagle and Lowrance units share many of the same parts. However, sometimes the manufacturer has several parts that are interchangeable and will put the cheaper ones in the Eagle and the better ones in the Lowrance. The interchangeable parts perform the same functions but the cheaper ones are considered less durable/reliable. So, I guess that means that the Eagle units could be less durable, though I wouldn't know for sure because I bought the Lowrance X85, and I love it...
John,
Go w/ the X-85 its great. I had a Eagle MagnaIII Plus-something like that it showed fish everywhere! If you got the $$ maybe you should go w/ pinpiont and network them! We'll see which is better!
