I'm thinking about taking my son to Port Clinton for some walleye fishing in June/July. To be honest we don't like the idea of paying that much money for a guide or someone else doing the real fishing as we just reel the fish in. The problem is my boat is only a 16' DV with a 50hp Merc. Is there a night bite when the walleyes might come up on reefs closer to shore or even a trolling bite along the shoreline. I'm leary about making a long run, but have heard of night bites that take place withing a couple miles of the launches? Any help would be deeply appreciated as we are trying to make this are first priority this summer. Won't have too many summers left to fish with the kid!
Thanks a ton!

Please don't risk your life and your son's simply save a few bucks. If you are not an experienced Great Lakes boater, you should not go there to see what it's like.

Eric made a kind offer. Get in touch with him and others before you tackle Lake Erie with an inland lake vessel.
