Hello, it is Sunday morning and it is raining at lake Erie today. Not too bad a day though. The air temperature is about 62 degrees and the wind has just switched to the south this morning and it is not blowing at all at the present time. Sorry I haven’t posted for a while, we have been gone on some family stuff, and busy restocking for this year. We are taking some good walleyes out in deeper water now. The Pro’s are here now pre-fishing for the RCL tournament next week, and they are catching their big fish when they can get out. Some of the charters are starting to run now. They are mostly fishing on the reefs and are catching lots of limits. The spawn is still going on. I think the spawning is slowing down but the walleyes are still there. It was pretty windy out of the north and west this week. Now the wind has switched to the south. It is drizzly now but that doesn’t stop the serious walleye fishermen. The wind is what slows the fishing on Lake Erie, as you know. Just today, most everyone who caught fish yesterday told us that they caught them on worm harnesses. They were trolling them, and drifting with bottom bouncers. The flashy colors were catching the best, a lot of silver back spinners. The crank baits are catching well too. Mostly Reef Runners, lots of purple and lots of white. The early perch fishing is said by some to be the best perch fishing ever. We had a 15 ¼” perch Friday. It weighed 2 pounds and 4 ounces. It was an inch and ¼ longer but 8 ounces lighter than the state record. They are catching lots of limits too. They are catching the perch just off the Lakeside pier all the way around to the lighthouse off Marblehead. I guess you bass fishermen would like to know there are a lot of big bass being caught now too. The weather looks better now for the next few days. The front should be through here tomorrow and it looks good at least until the weekend. Good fishing, & good luck, Don. (compliments of hiwaybait.com)
