I am going to give this stuff a try ... but when I do .. for jigging and pulling cranks .. should I use a leader???
Or can I tie it directly to the jig or crank?????

I can't really respond to the jigging end, but with trolling I used to use a leader. I found after a year that it made no difference if i had the leader or not. I also think you are better off without having the extra knot with the leader to fail. The leader did act as a shock absorber, but by loosening your drag and playing the fish smart you should be all right and eliminate the need for a leader.

For jigging try putting a very small barrel swivel on your fireline and then about a 2' leader of 6 or 8 lb. mono. It eliminates line twist and if you get hung up,(Detroit River) its much easier to break off. For trolling I use about a 5' mono leader. It gives a little bit of stretch.

I have had great luck jigging and trolling without using a leader. When I troll I place a single clip on the end of my line for easy attachment and quick changes. I have had great success using fireline and hope you do to.
