What exactly is that feature and when/how should I use it appropriately?

Any other tips on using the GlobalMap 100?

Hi EricCO,

I have had my 100 now for about 3 1/2 years and here is what I have mine set at.

I use the Map 2 with some changes to its windows. I programmed on the bottom settings on the left window the ALT or altitude, then the GS for ground speed then the TRK for tracking. This will give me the readings of lake pool level at where I am at for my contour maps and also the ground speed that I am going with direction to tracking as well. Also I do sound off as it helps conserve battery life and have the power save on. This will conserve lots of battery by reducing the amount of time the reciever communicates to the satellites for fixed positioning or pinning. If you get in real heavy cover or wooded areas and are loosing your position, take the power save feature off then all should be ok. On the Map 2 setup screen I have the screen set to update by 3 sec rate as to early all you get are lines hunked together and to late you get chops in pattern file. Update distance is set a .10 mi. I always run my unit with track up as this give true direction to land placement where you are at in contour effect. Also I run auto zoom on and rng rngs off and grid off. Get to cluttered looking.

Hope this helps or gets you started.

Lots of fun and a really good unit.
