Hello, it is Thursday evening here at Lake Erie and it has poured down rain all afternoon and evening. It hasn’t been too windy, but lots of rain. Some fishermen had their limit of walleyes and were in by 11:00am just before the rain started, and some were still trying to get theirs and got too wet to continue. We are really catching walleyes now. They are schooled up out west of the islands and most people are doing well. They are drift fishing using Weapons and worm harnesses. Also trolling using mostly Stinger Scorpion Spoons. There are lots of new colors of Stingers and it seems like they are all working, along with the old standbys like Monkey Puke, Gin & Tonic, and Raspberry Dolphin Copper. The weather forecast for this weekend is anyone’s guess I think. The Marine forecast says it is going to be bad tomorrow and Saturday morning early. Then it doesn't sound too bad for Saturday afternoon and good Sunday, except for a 30% chance for rain. The other forecast we watch says the weather isn’t going to be too bad all weekend except for 30% chance of rain. I think it is possible that we could get some rain, other than that your guess is as good as mine. The perch bite is still good; they are catching a lot of them off the piers and docks from shore too. The bass are hungry too, and lots of sheephead. The crappies are about done for now I think. We had several Fish Ohio fish this week, Holly Amlin of Tiffin had a 30 ½” 8 ¾ lb., caught on a Gold Erie Dearie, drifting off American Eagle Shoal. Jim Cisteniro had a 29”and a 29 ½” he caught by Sugar Island, on one of our Frans Favorite “Original” Weapons with the Chartuse Pro scale #3 blade. Larry Lambert had two 14” Perch in his limit catch up by North Bass Island yesterday. His wife said that she could only get 4 fillets in a bag to freeze them. Now is the time to go fishing if we can just get the weather to get out on the lake. Last week the fishing was some what slowed up by the full moon, but that is gone now. Good fishing & good Luck, Don.
