Fished out of Sterling State Park. Went straight out to a spot I have off of Fermi in 18 to 20 fow. Water temp was 68 to 70. Mayflies were present in patches here and there. Water was off colored with about 3 foot of visability and floating weeds were scattered about but were no problem. Started fishing at 7:30 and picked up a 17 incher in about 5 minutes on a rainbow hotntot off an inline back 110 feet. Nothing more came off the rainbow so I switched to gold w/black back and popped 3 more very quickly on that color. Was able to pick up my 5th on a green/chrome harness with a gulp crawler off a bottom bouncer. He came at 11:00 and that was it for me. The `eyes ranged from 17 up to 25 inches. Also caught 8 silver bass and lost 3 other walleyes as well. The radio indicated that almost everyone was catching. The crankbait bite is on now lets keep those westerlies coming

Question, when the winds are coming from WSW, is the water smoother & clearer than southerly winds & at what speed? Thanks.
