CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF YOU CAN RUN HOT N TOTS OFF DIPSYS OR DEEP THUNDER STICK JRS
Hot-N-Tots no you can't. Deep Jrs. you may be able to but only at slower speeds (say under 2.5), and only in the deeper settings like up to 1-1/4 or so. When you start pulling harder on the back of the dipsy, it just wants to turn over. Hope this helps.

Myself I say no to both. Sorry Jim...:) You may be able to do it without turning the dipsey over but I'm not sure you would ever know what depth it is really at. I guess you can try it and see but I would have something other than Deep divers on board. Theres not any need to run Deep plugs when the Dipseydiver is doing the diving for you.

Go to Luhr-Jensens home page and ask them directly, or ask for a tech sheet on what you want.

We often run Juniors with deep lips off Dipseys, sometimes we run them as a three way with a spoon combo off the dipseys when things are slow to find what kind of action the fish want .. The small deep thunderstick doesn't seem to bother the dispey,, but anything larger we don't use.
The Deep junior has a different action than the short lip ones and sometimes it trigerrs more strikes
Good Luck

We sometimes run hot'n'tots behind the smallest or next bigger size dipsey. The only problem is to keep them from turning over is you have to adjust the dipsey to barely track to one side or another.
Goes to show that if you want to make something work, you can. I'm quite sure that slower speeds are required, but alot of really good fishermen fish slow. Especially at places other than Erie.
