Saw this on the local news last night. They have a pontoon boat here at the Minnesota Boat Show (In St. Paul)rigged with twin 225 hp Rams that was clocked at 80.08 mph in test runs. (the news had videos) Goes to show ya, if it can be done, someone will do it!

Since we are going to be snowed in this weekend, guess I'll have to check it out. Three boat shows in one year....will spring ever spring??

My springer was kinda wondering what was so funny on the news last night!

They had it on display at the Chicago Sports Show back in late January. It's outfitted with a pair of 'Rude 225s.

Is it a pontoon style or a new tri-hule?

That be one fast MN bluegill rig, yup-yup!

I saw it too. Could you imagine what would happen if the wind caught that just right? Think about a piece of plywood on top of your truck at 80MPH. Yowee!

For the question below, it was your basic pontoon with two aluminum floats and some screeming power on the tail.

Eeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

With ever faster jet skis, snomobiles, ATVs, dirt bikes, and the like, the pontoon is no surprise. Combine that one with a load of drinking party boat types and what do we have? More blood.

FYI... I also saw that on the news last night. It's not a production model. They just did that to show the strength of the boat....but it would be fun!

Wow, next thing you know, old geezers will be driving hopped up Crown Vics drafting and doing 170 down I 75 on their way to FL> I hate pontoon boats. They might as well strap a jet engine to a tricycle.

Is it just me or did it look like that boat had a third pontoon down the center?

Also, how fast would it REALLY have been going if it hit a walleye!!

Darwin awards are due out soon. Maybe this will bring in a
contender. Much like the fabled JATO Falcon. Oh well.

How about rod holders that mount to your Jet Ski for a personal trolling device? God help us all, its a sick, sick world.

Hey Wawa,....I did see a fishhouse doing an honest 45mph on slick ice with a "Chinook" wind blowing about 60mph a few years ago.
Hope nobody was in it?
Doubt it....ice was STILL CLEAN along the line where it skidded past!

The pontoon was built locally (Elkhart,In) and the speed record was set on the St. Joe river here. The company that built it is trying to market it as a rescue platform. Lots of room for equipment and paramedics and needless to say it will get to scene quickly.
