I have the 1 quart and 2 quart sizes in the Alladin. Both are superb -- provided you preheat the container for several minutes before filling with the beverage you are going to take afield.
So long as I preheat, I can use the Alladin all day -- coffee, bullion, beef broth, etc.

Gotta agree with you there Hans. I have a Camo Nissan I use for deer, duck, ice fishing and other cold weather stuff. It keeps my coffee warmer then anything else I have ever owned, Hands down!
A trick I learned long ago is to fill the thermos with boiling hot water the night before, close it up and let is sit till the moning. Emptiy it out and fill with your coffee, or what ever and it will remain hot for a whole day.

Preheating with boiling water is the key to make it last the whole day, as long as its a decent thermos to begin with! buy american if you can!
I have a 20+ year old thermos brand and don't even have to preheat it. I have to make tea the night before or I have to add cold water if I make it the morning of use. The reason I commented is that I destroyed one cap and am working on destroying the second cap (it likes to jump off the car-boat-table) and there is a internet site (Thermos) where you can order new caps for less that $5. (Next time I'll order 2.)

LAST EDITED ON Feb-24-01 AT 10:44AM (CST)[p]I like my coffee & lot's of it, black & HOT!
Anyone remember the air pot's?
Is there a high Tec version of a air pot on the market, and if so who handles them?
While guiding a group of 3-4 anglers plus myself we can slurp up a lot of Java in cold weather EH.
I do have a Nissan 1 qt.. and a pint size travel version, they are my personal favorites in the field.

Nissan! My boss raves about his. First thermos he's had that didn't dribble a mess when you pour. My wife loves hers.

Bought a Thermos last year, it's a steel vacuum, and has two cups that both screw on to the top. It also has a hollow cap that you can fill up with whitener and sugar. Perfect for two people with different coffee tastes. Now if it only came in a stainless version......

Eddy,
our local Sam's club carries the airpots. 1/2 gallon size i think. Cant remeber brand though. Ya might try Walmart. They work great but cant take the abuse of a Stanley Stainless.

I use the Stanley. they take a lickin' and keep on tickin'
One other thing that is nice for drinking coffee out in the boat is a stainless steel insulated mug. My fishing buddy gave me one and it works very good at keeping coffee hot for long periods of time.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-28-01 AT 09:03AM (CST)[p]With out a doubt we rely on our Uno Vacs to keep coffe hot all day. The only Stanley we have is used first because it is lukewarm by noon. We use 5 of them and the Uno Vacs are still hot on the drive home. My son has a smaller Stanley with a big top that is used for his hot choclate made and preheated with boiling water and it's lucky to be warm at noon. The Uno's are only preheated with hot tap water.
Buy an Uno you won't be disappointed.
Now for warmer weather

where do you find the Uno brand?

If you can find the real cheap ones ( Odd Lot Stores ) that the bottom screws off you can fill them full of insulation spray foam, they work pretty good. You only have a few dollars in them.

If you're the Big Sky I'm thinking of (I certainly hope there's only one of you) you shouldn't buy a thermos. You've got enough trouble catching fish without adding a cup of coffee to distract you. Stay away from the island and north bar. In fact, stay in the flat lands.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-01-01 AT 10:22AM (CST)[p]I never thought of that when I was posting and I don't really know brain fart??? I got the 2 that I own at garage sales for 2$ because I knew they were real good and lasted a lifetime. I would search on the net and see if you can find something and I'll go look now.
No luck couldn't find nothing except on E-bay.
