View Full Version : Stoney Point, Brest Bay
How were the floating weeds out there today? Thinking of going out friday AM, Thanks in advance.
i was out there on tuesday and small weeds were everywhere. there was also a lot of algea in the water. i was there for perch, but not doing real well. a few guys were trolling but, i know all they were catching were weeds. i heard two reports on the vhf, one from the e bouy area and the other from near west sister. both were putting fish in the box. i'm heading out in the am to try those areas and hope the weeds and water have cleared up a lot. i hope that someone who was out wed or today will give us an update.

Thanks for the reply, Jake. These easterlies have more than likely really weeded up the west side of the lake.
If I were heading out there this weekend. I would perch fish at Sputnik. I have seen some nice catches from around the pointe also, but it is hit or miss.
If weeds are a problem, don't be afraid to troll inside the point if you are set on eyes. The water is still cold for this time of year. You may even pop a musky if you get shallow enough.
I'm not fishing out there this weekend though.... just giving you some ideas based what I have seen coming in lately.
i spent the day around e can. the weeds were nor a factor 2 for 3 on the eyes and a few perch to top it off. one of the eyes was a typical late summer western basin fish.....ya, right
