It looks like I will be giving the lake a shot this weekend-providing that there will not be a blizzard going on or that there are no walleye being caught. Can I trouble you for some info as to where to launch-where to stay (with my dog)-any specific locations for where the bite is best and some directions off Rt. 81 north. I thank you in advance for any help-if the bite is really off-let me know also, 'cause my rump is still sore from the accident and the 3.5 hour ride is only bearable knowing that I may catch a few walleye!
Talk to you soon...

Fred-maybe if I don't hear anything from TOI-I will just use some of his past posts for info-but maybe you can help with a place to launch at Oneida. I see on the map that Rt. 31 runs on the south side of the lake and Rt. 49 runs along the north side-are there any marinas that are marked on those roads that I can launch from? From TOI's last post I believe he said that the fish were starting to head towards the feeder streams-I guess I will pull out the Hotspots map and take it from there...
Thanks-and I hope all is well with you and yours...

If you are heading up I-81, you can get off at the Brewerton exit. I'm not sure of the road name or route number, but if you head east less than a mile, there is a very nice county park there with a launch and large parking area. At the same exit off I-81, if you head west, there was a sporting goods and bait shop within a quarter mile. Last time I was up in the spring it was for sale, so I can't be sure if it's open now. There was also a Holiday Inn Express there also, not sure if they allow pets but you could check there website. Look up for Brewerton, NY. I've also found booking a room online without reserving the right to cancel can save some good bucks at Holiday Inn Express. For a fishing report check here. http://www.dec.state.ny.us/website/reg7/r7fishln.htm I always take the DEC fishing report with a grain of salt, but it at least gives you an idea whats (been) happening. If you head up, let me know if you hear about any perch fishing, as I'd like to get up next week someday if the fishing is decent.

Walteye, The exit for Brewerton would be the Bartel Road exit, east for the county park, west for the Holiday Inn Express.

Walteye, We are getting snow here in Susquehanna cty, PA. Could have 3"'s by this evening. I doubt it would impede your travel, but it sure makes a sloppy mess of a boat. Just thought I'd pass it on to you. Looks like nice weather Sunday thru Wednesday. I fished the Susquehanna river in NY yesterday afternoon. Talked to a couple guys that were out early and they got a few eyes and muskies. I didn't get up till after 1PM and did get a nice smallmouth but the weather turned by 2:30 and the wind was howling.

Shellback-thanks so much for the info-I booked a room for tomorrow night at the Holiday Inn Express-I didn't mention my dog yet. I checked the weather and saw that you are getting ice/snow-but none up by Oneida. This weekend's forecast was originally calling for snow and wind to start-but it looks a whole lot better now. I checked the NYDEC report-looks encouraging-but as you said-it may be deceiving...
I am picking up shiners tonite by home and I already have crawlers in the 'fridge-so I don't think I have to worry about bait-only good info. I will let you know how it goes-thanks again.
