I am heading up for the frist time in the fall to this area on Sat. Was planing on perch fishing out of Hot Waters frist. Then doing a Waleye evening/night fish. I was wondering what my best bet would be. Fishing the shorline (in what area) or fishing from the huron pier. What technice is used? Trolling or casting the shoreline. Any info would be appericated as I have neven done this before.

Rod,
you can do all of the above. troll in 7-9 fow using reef runners or #10, 12, 14 husky jerks both lures running back 20-25 ft from the boards. use the same lures casting off of the pier. ch 79 is good to listen to, alot of guys will tell you what is going on.

Can a guy cast from the boat or is trolling better. Do you need to troll really slow? Is out of Huron the best area for walleye or is Vermilion or on east just as good? Not too familar with area. Also is marblehead area just as productive (I know this area better).

you can cast, try by the huron piers it may be better for casting there, but it just depends on the fish. if you troll the speed is around 1.5-1.8. vermilion and huon are about 8 mi apart and between verm and huron is best. there is a small night tourney saturday night going on and you would be able to get alot of info on how to fish that area as well. the guys are very nice and know alot about fishing that area and im sure you could pick up alot during that time.
