? regarding guest Batt Isolator

Does anyone know how a guest battery isolator works and whats its primary function. Bought a used boat with it on and dont know how to connect it ,let alone its function. Any help & input greatly appreciated. Thanks all for any help. K1esoxhtr

A battery isolator will allow a single output alternator to charge two or three batteries simultaneously, without allowing the batteries to discharge into one another.
