Here is your Christmas present. Trace lake, Grey Eagle, MN. Small lake 2 hours NW of MLPS. Lake is on NW edge of town. Walleyes limits 14" - 21". Majority of fish 14 -17". No big fish, only eaters. Walleye rearing pond that has not froze out for a number of years. Realitively undiscovered untill about a week ago. Another lake in area still undiscovered and don't ask. Limits are being caught daily on Trace Lake with local fish hawgs double dipping for two limits early morning and early evening and going back day after day. These are the same slobs that abuse the the laws and ruin it everywhere there is a good bite. 8" of ice and thickening. Public access and walk out is less than 100 yards to the fish. Lake is less than 10" deep. Very little food in lake, so if one swims by it will bite. Get em while you can. Need I say more?

In response to your question, some questions are better not asked. However, make sure you can count to six (as in possesion limit)if you do go there.

The only people that should be worried about the DNR are the morons that screw up fishing for everyone else. Stay within the limits and there should be no problems. What ever happened to "Catch and release"?

The lake is small and yes you can catch fish 100 yards from the access. Due to the traffic and noise, try to get off by yourself. Leave the power auger home. The shallow depth and lack of snow cover makes for spooky fish. Thus early morning and evening is the only bite I am aware of. Have not been there the last 3 days due to cold weather. Temp. here was -16 this morning and -7 now. Better ice is forming.
