Time for the wife and I to plan our spring fishing trip. I"m wondering if any of you have fished Oneida in New York in the past.
Planning on heading that way 3rd week of May and just wondering how the fishing is this time of year (bass and walleyes)
Also, if any of you know any Oneida fishing sites on puter please let me know.
Thanking you in advance

I've fished Oneida for the first time last fall and did pretty good. Can't tell you much about when and where in May. Hopefully Tony on Ice catches this post he is a local on the lake.
Also you might consider Ray Brown Charters, Ray has been on Oneida forever, a day in the boat with him will take alot of the searching out.

I too fished Oneida this past fall (November) under the reccomendations of TONY_ON_ICE-I thank him immensely. In a day and a half I caught 17 walleye and 5 large Smallies-in my opinion-a truly good trip. He would be the one to cultivate some knowledge from as far as spring fishing would go on Oneida.
Good luck....

Bob, we stayed at a friend's house. Private dock. Nice.
When I went up in November I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express just off Rt 81-I stayed only 2 nights and I think it was in the $65-70/nite area. There was a state launch ramp not too far from the hotel-but I went up Rt.81 north 1 more exit and fished out of Cleveland on the n/e section of the lake. Probably about 25 minutes to the state ramp in Cleveland.

I agree.
I had to get the dictionary myself. This is a cool word. He must be reading the dictionary while he's sitting on the bucket in his tent. Oh I forgot he doesn't like a ice tent.

LOL! I spent a couple days with Doc on the ice a few years back, the way he caught fish I can see where he would get lots of time to read a dictionary or 2 or 3!

Fred
I see you and the Doctor are in for the MWC East. I don't know what my Goomba is doing for Detriot. He was still thinking about it. I'll try to change his mind. The Salmon Tournament is a series but we have no plans to fish it and it is a week after.
This is reminding when I signed up for the PWT East and I got blown off at Dunkirk in that storm, you were there. I changed my mind about my career and sold my entry into Bay de Noc. The day after I sold my entry, Pwt sent me the standings for the Am East and I was sixth. With a outside shot at the Championship. Talk about a case of the dumbass.

Hey now boys, I resemble that remark. Just because Fred chose to sit in a heated shanty and not catch fish, doesn't mean I didn't catch them. I caught lots those two days.Unfortunately, the biggest perch was probably only 6". I can't help it if that's all there was in Chautauqua at the time. Now if Fred want's to go again (to Oneida let's say) I'll show him how it's done. :-)

Sorry Bub....I forgot all about you mentioning this thread the last time we met.
Now I've been called many names in the past but never a "Plethora" ! Sounds like some kind of disease to me !!
"Hey Doc...look, I've got a Plethora on my foot" !
Anyway, I'm heading out the door on my way to Chapman Park on Oneida Lake.
I have a hunch that the walleyes and perch will be waiting for me there this afternoon.
When I get back this evening, I'll post some info on lodging and places to fish for yous guys coming out this spring.
By the way Pete, it would be wie to sneak away from the desk for a day and head out on Oneida with me. All I can say is "It's Happening again" !! Lots of walleyes, perch and crappies with the occasional bucket of 10 inch sunfish mixed in !
Walt.
Glad you had a good trip to Oneida. Next time I'll try to stay close to home and meet you there.

Jim...I was 15 miles out with Tommy Skarlis the day that storm hit. When they cancelled the day with him in the lead that made him the automatic winner but I really wondered if we would ever make it back to shore for him to cash that check! My neighbor and KAWA partner this season Ken Johnston was with EZEMARC that day when Marc lost his big motor and ran all the way to the Catt on his kicker! Both bilges running, bailing water...another pro and his am capsized. I think I would have made the same call you did on Bay de Noc!

Keep it under your hat but their on sitting on buckets catching smelt about 30 yards down stream from the Town Launch at Hanover. The launch is on the Cataraugus creek. The creek is loaded with smelt now. Every once in awile they catch a steelhead feeding on the smelt.
