Being new to the empty nest scene, I jokingly asked the wife friday night, if she would like to go out on the ice Saturday on Erie and experience ice fishing on the big pond. She said that she would love to go. We had a ball! Rode out around 8 miles and caught around 60 fish, only 4 keepers. She caught on pretty quick to the bite and held her own.
She was surprised at how warm and comfy the clam voyager gets and how well we eat on the ice. hot chili, grilled brats and hot chocolate. In all the years of fishing on the ice, i never thought to ask the wife. I figured she would think it was boring and cold. I can't wait to take her again. Has any one taken thier better half out for the day?

my better half goes out with me every trip, my boat! On the ice its my Vexilar LOL, my wife cant stand being on the lake usually because some fly or another insect spoils the trip for her so she just stays home.

I don't ice fish, but my wife loves to pilot the boat while trolling on Erie. And she's getting pretty good at it too. Some guys might not look at it this way, but I consider myself very lucky. I not only have a great wife, but she's my best friend too.
