Planning the first trip of the year (weather permitting) next Fri 25th, Would like to start around
the Marblehead area and move west as needed! I know its been COLD but looking for some
information on RAMP status (ice free)! Also looking for other opinions on "where to start" this
time of year! Planning on the jigging technique, wont have time to break in the T-8! Thanks...

Jack:
I might be heading up with Brian that day. I think your plan makes sense. I personally have only tried the Marblehead area a few times at ice out and didn't catch any eyes. It was muddy both times though. I have an uncle that in the past has just tore them up on vibees at ice out. These fish stage in that area before running up the Sandusky - or so I've been told. He told me that they would fish the breaks between 27' and 33'. They would use the bowmount and just move slowly around the area. My uncle just caught and released all of the fish. He told me that him and his partner caught over 50 fish one day a few years back with most being big females. I have talked with others that have had similiar experiences.
Your going to love that T-8!

Saturday is no good for me. We're taking the kids on an Easter Egg Hunt. Good Friday should work out as long as nothing major pops up at work. I didn't get a chance to look for the Steel pics yet.

this time of year lots of prespawn females stack up south of the reefs around the g can area. Ice fishing was good there a couple of weeks ago so thats where i will start if the waters is clean enough.
Good luck

Guys help!!!!!!!!!!! I am really needing to get into the boat and get on some soft water soon. Easter weekend is my only chance (wife is due april 4). My partner and I want to fish Good Friday and were thinking of comeing down. We are coming from North of Detroit what would be our best bet to launch. I have only fished the reefs once and we went out of Turtle Creek. We usually fish out of Monroe but want to try something new. We are going to come with the full arsenal jigging and trolling stuff. Would like to get a couple for the freezer but once we have a meal, I want to target a big fish for my bud. He works his a-- off fishing and has yet to break the 8# mark. Thanks for the help.

Turtle Creek or Wild Wings would be a good spot for you to launch. Jig or troll the reefs for your meals and then head to the area between the reefs and cans to get some brutes. Good luck, as always it will be weather dependent for success stories.

My boat is south of the Mason Dixon line right at the moment. If it's back I'll be out! If it's not back I'll be begging a ride with someone.

Christopher, I think Payedfor for was being totally serious! Some of us are on a tight budget due
to the rising fuel costs! $10.00 aint all bad, take your skirt off and give it a try! But if you want a
lil "upscale housing", try Commodore Perry in Port Clinton (across from Drawbridge Marina) it
was only 39.99 and Mr Eds has some cold beverages, so im told! ......Jack
If you are looking for a motel, there is an econo lodge about 10 min. away to the west. #419 -836-2822. $46 for the night tax included.
