About ten boats went out of Turtle Creek
today to fish off the reefs and Nuke plant.
Rough day out there. The front came through
with high winds and the waves got going.
Fishing was not good. Too rough and stirred up.
Saw no catches all day. Hoping for stable weather
so the fish can get going. Looks like we are going
to be about two weeks behind in the action compared
to last year it the weather is what they currently
are calling for this week.

Can someone out where give me directions . I would like to fish the reefs this year. I have a pretty decent sized boat and would like to find a nice launch site close to Niagara, Round, and Locust Reef. I usually take 80 to Route 2 and head west when I launch out of Catawba State Park. But I think this year I want to find a closer launch site. Thanks in advance.

Just stay on Rt 2 west and after you pass Davis Besse Nuclear Power plant you will see Green Cove Condiminiums, keep going till you see Fenwick Marina. You can launch there and be right by the reef fishing areas. There are also several bait shops along the way for tackle and info.
I always heard that age is just mind over matter.......if you don't mind, it don't matter!

Try TURTLE CREEK CAMPGROUND,this is almost next door to BESSE. IT is located on HUMPHRY RD. just west of the nuke plant and east of HAPPY HOOKER bait shop on Rt2. 5.00$ ramp fee, good ramps and floating docks.Takes about 4 minutes to get out to the lake. Talk to Dave at the HOOKER about the whats and wheres for the fish. KEEP A TIGHT AND THE BUD COLD ERIE REBEL

The docks are not in at Trutle Creek
or most places yet. We will see them go
in about at week or so.
If you have a big boat 21 ft+, I would
recommend putting in a the State Ramp
just west of Port Clinton on the Portage
River off Rt. 163 (on the south side).
You can easily launch and run out the river
to the reefs (note the channel can be SHALLOW
- use extreme caution).
or
Launch at Catawba State Park and make
the run to the reefs of DB. If the
weather is fair, this run can be
made easily.
After April 1st the ice and ramps should
be in at Wild Wings and you'll be good to
go.

He can easily fish that area out of the marinas named above, it is close to the reef area. Water conditions change almost daiy and if it is dirty on the reefs it is normally dirty off the creek also.
Happy Hooker is open daily now about 6 am to 6 pm and he is very well stocked.
Wild Wings is a good launch for a bigger boat _not sure if the launch docks are in - the other marinas require you to pass under a bridge so don't forget to lower the antennas....

Great info I think Catawaba may be the ticket for me . Hay if I do go to the other state launch west of Turtle creek is the channel marked cause I have a 24 foot boat that drafts deep.
