I NEED ADVICE ASAP I AM SUPPOSED TO TAKE DELIVERY OF 2000 1700 FISHERMAN WITH A 2001 JOHNSON 90 HORSEPOWER WICH I PAID IN FULL FULL BACK IN NOV NORMALLY I WOULD BE OVER JOYED HOWEVER WHEN I STOPPED BY THIS AFTERNOON I NOTICED A MICHIGIAN WHEEL PROP WHERE I EXPECTED TO SEE A STOCK OMC PROP. I QUESTIONED
THE DEALER HE SAID IT WAS SAME COST AS OMC. I OWNED ONE OF THESE PROPS BEFORE IF MEMORY SERVES CORRECTLY HALF THE PAINT WORE OFF THE 1ST TIME OUT. DOES ANYONE THINK I AM OVERREACTING???
THIS MOTOR IS A V 4 IDEDENTICAL TO 115 EXCEPT FOR THE CARBS WICH I SOONER OR LATER PLAN TO CHANGE ALONG WITH ENGINE DECAL
BACK TO THE PROP DEAL I JUST FEEL AFTER SHELLING OUT THE BETTER PART OF $16000.00 I SHOULD AT LEAST GET SOMETHING OTHER THAN AN AFTERMARKET PROP. WHO KNOWS MAYBE I AM WRONG ? ANY PERFORMANCE
ENHANCING TIPS WOULD BE APPRICIATED THANKS

Get the dealer to change the prop.
I agree completly with you.
For the OMC motors - in general - the OMC props outperform the Michigan wheel props by quite a bit.

p.s.
As far as changing carbs - I would save your money and enjoy the 90hp johnson.
I doubt that you will notice 1 mph difference in the engine if you change carbs. The reason that I have said this is that I have been in the same boat - with first a 90 hp johnson, and then later - when the owner went to the 115. Not really noticable - except perhaps a slight better hole shot.

Take care

with 2000 Johnson 90hp. (with OMC prop) Your gonna love it. At least I love mine best investment ever made.

Ditto! Get the dealer to change props. The sale of a new motor includes the right prop (same make as motor) unless the CUSTOMER specifies otherwise (usually by upgrading). The dealer isn't going to risk losing a sale or having a dissatisfied customer over an aluminum prop. If he doesn't have it, tell him to find it. There are tons of dealers out there with OMC props and that motor is going to use a very common size!

The Michigan Wheel is inferior! Been there, done that! Slick talker at Hannays talked me into a Michigan Wheel "just like the OEM original" on my OMC 90HP. Performance went right in the toilet. Piece-a-crap.
