does anyone ever wonder why there is a early season in the southern part of the state, up on the Rainy, but not in the Middle of the state? I live in Grand Rapids and our river is full of walleyes. I would sure think that if properly managed an a lot of anglers would be able to enjoy such an oppertunity. I for one am tired of buying all the gas to drive all the way up to the rainy when the boat landing two blocks from my house would do just fine. I think that this needs to change. Is there a reason that I'm not thinking of that keeps the DNR from doing this?

fishin fool - I do agree with you. I think that the GR area could prosper from an open season in that area also. Although, like you said, with some pretty strick regulations. The dnr is the dnr and we have to take that with a grain of salt, if you know what I mean. I personally do not make it up to Rainy anymore because there is simply too many impatient people. Take care and see you at Ben's Bait.
