I might purchase a 3/4 ton sub. Wondering the thoughts on it compared to a 1/2 ton. It is a 98 with 41K miles on it, looks nice, drives nice, just a lot of CA$H. priced around $20,000 which seems pretty good. What will i loose in mileage compared to 1/2 ton.

The benefits more than make up for a few lost miles in gas. I am on my second 3/4 ton sub. wore out the 1/2 tons pulling boat, trailers ect. don't think twice about it. By the way my 2000 sub. was 41,225 with all the perks

The EPA has a website which shows the fuel economy (Aren't economy and Suburban mutually exclusive terms?) estimates for vehicles as old as 1985 models. Yahoo or another search engine should be able to find it. I just read about it last night, it may be something like www.fueleconomy.gov or www.gasmileage.gov.

We have a 94 3/4 ton and have put 116,000 on it. We live in ne Colorado and have trailered a 22 Grady all over the country pulling it to Sandiego, Houston, Ashtabula, and have had minor problems. From what we have heard the 1/2 tons are a little harder on brakes ands the suspension is a little weaker but it all depends upon the size of boat you are pulling whether ar not your would need the 3/4 ton. My thoughts is when ever you are pulling a trailer it is going to be easier on the 3/4 ton than the 1/2 ton, regardless of the payload. We have the 6.5 turbo diesel in ours and have had very few problems with it. Now we are waiting for them to drop the duramax into the suburban then probably order us a new one, only draw back to this is from rumors we have heard that they are going top cut the power back on the duramax in the suburban and will not be able to get the allison tranny. Got kind of carried away here but we dont think you will be sorry with the 3/4 ton. mpg will depend on gear ratio and size of engine, from srories we have heartd might want to stay away from the big block due to bad mpg, but then again has plenty of power. dc
