I would like to make my own steel leaders or titanium leaders. Can anyone give me a hint and where to buy the materials?

I use Berkley Steelon Nylon Coated Wire. 15# test. Use #3 sleeves to crimp, or this stuff is so flexible, I use it for worm harnesses and can tie a snell just like you would with mono. Used it last year on Erie, and did just as well as the mono harnesses. They have all the materials, (wire, sleeves, and crimpers at Gander Mountain or Cabelas. A 30' roll of the wire was $1.99. There are different # tests if you want to go heavier.
Good Luck!

I have always preferred a single strand wire leader to stranded. Available @ Thorne Bros. Tie in swivel and snap w/ a haywire twist. Special tool available to do the haywire tists very pretty but even by hand (not as pretty) they hold very nicely. A good way to tie the coated multistrand is to use the same twist and then heat the coating to fuse it together. No need for leaders on walleyes. The above are best saved for pike, muskie and other more toothy targets.
