We fished the same general area as Reel Naughty. The fish finder was lit up. Monday we counted 48 walleye throwbacks between 13" to 15". We were able to get a 4 man limit of walleyes in the 17" to 20" range but none over 4 pounds. We tried large stingers for the last portion of day to eliminate the throwbacks. The little walleyes still attacked the big spoons. Always gentle release of the small ones. Can't wait to seem them in a few years.
Beautiful weekend on the lake.

Lady Bridge, you have to fish with The Optimist....he is hot. Two 10 lbers in two days out of Huron. When I fished with him the next day, we only had the sheepshead program wired. Actually, we caught about seven or eight on Sunday. There are bigger fish out of Huron/Vermillion, but not as many as in prior years. I fished Lorain Sunday afternoon, and caught only four but two were 9 lbs. Give us a holler when the steelhead bite gets going, and we'll talk on the water. Can't wait, as my boat in now in Lorain.

Hawk Eye,
Are you still planning a trip for the Steelies in Canada? Let me know. I think between Rick and I we can wrangle up a at least one more boat to trailer in addition to mine.
Also, check out my photos to see the screen North of WS.
Rick, we will get you in the second round. Only 5lbs to make up!

I haven't caught a sheephead all year. We were commenting on that yesterday. We started between stoney point and sputnik Monday, hit 8 keepers and two steelhead. Then we ran to north of WS around 6pm and finished the 4 man limit. There were only four or five other boats in the area by then.
I can't remember going so long without a sheephead. I'm not complaining though. The two bows were a nice bonus.

Hawkeye, I saw the post from Optimist on Cranberrycreek.com
Are the 2 of you still planning to fish the WBSA? Sounds like good timing for the Optimist. I don't think I'll be fishing that tourney. The fish are really schooling up around here. Not big ones but good 2 pound eaters.
You've got a group of us interested in steelie fishing. Keep me posted on the bite.

Green Puke - Lite Days - Pooh Bear Purple - Happy Hooker - Razberry Dolphin....seemed to be best colors for Team Reel Naughty this past weekend. No single hot color, but anything purple and bright pink seemed to do the trick, the only green color we could get working was Green Puke, but it put plenty of fish in the boat.

Yes, we are planning a trip to Erieau in early August for one week. The steelies are usually gone from Lorain around then, so we will be headed north. Haven't decided if we will make the 68 mile run my water, or trailer the boat.

We've been puiling a better grade of fish around Niagra, C and D cans.

Shortest launch to West Sister is around Camp Perry. Turtle Creek Marina, Fenwick's, Wild Wings are all pretty decent.
From these locations, I don't know how far offshore the Island is, but I'm guessing around 8 miles or slightly more. Good luck.

Longspur,
We went out of Anchor Point. A public launch is located there and it is really nice. The run to the island is 8 or so miles and another 4 to where we were fishing. We plan on heading out to that area on Sat if the bite is still good. Reel Naughty on 79.
