how would you fish a small river for walley in really cold water from boat.any help greatfull

First you need to find the baitfish, my guess would be that their going to be shallow in slack water. The fast water normally won't produce much but fishing the edge of it and the swirls from obstuctions can be. I don't know how deep, wide, or other info on your river but this time of the year fish the fastest warming spots (shallow) first then look for deeper fish.... Just my 2 cents

Good suggestions on other post. Most rivers at this time, the eyes are stacking up below any dams on the river and will be located in the slack water of the eddies, below wingdams, and depending on the weather, they might be in the deep holes or in the main channel during cold fronts. During the stable weather patterns stay by the inlets, drain tiles, smaller river inlets, and wingdams, eddies. Hope this helps.
