Ok, so all of you that live in snow country, even though it's been a long winter, how many of you would not live here if you didn't have to. As ready as I am to hit open water, I really do enjoy the seasonal changes, and would not want to live anywhere else than the Mn area. Just curious!

The anticipation had when waiting out a long cold winter is what makes fishing open water that much more exciting.

My wife wants a honeymoon in the tropics. Even with the temps at 20 degrees, I'm still trying to convince her a Canada/Alaska trip would be better :)

The wife would move anytime, but having my business in Sioux Falls IT would be hard to start over. And I would truely miss the seasonS and all the other things I have become acustom to. I'M STAYING

Anticipation keeps life interesting and fun! What better way to enjoy life then in anticipation of the good ole' days to come. Anyway, life would get pretty boring if I could hunt and fish year round. Hmmmm..lemme re-think that one..J/K

Heck, a guy needs the time off to watch The Mole and Survivor anyway. (Throw Temptation Island in the can..phewy who who dilly stuff that was, but weren't the locations incredible?)

I know one thing for sure, I would be divorsed and my cologne would scare off the best of hunting/fishing partners, let alone any hope of meeting another lady.

Nope. Openers and the 4 seasons are what brought me and kept me here in MN.

...OK, honey, it was really you that kept me here... ;-)

My wife and I have no intention to move. We've got a lakefront place the grandkids love to visit, even in winter. So it gets 30 below zero -- you don't have mosquitoes, black flies, or other flying/biting pests when it's cold -- and, nothing beats clean fresh snow. I don't miss the grey/black urban snow we lived with so many earlier years.

Nothing put a spring into the step quite like the crisp squeak of snow under foot. Slush doesn't squeak.

I have lived in MN all of my life and I can honestly say that I really enjoy it here. My wife's family lives in CA, and it sure is nice to visit during the cold winter, but living there would not be for me. I'm a CPA working in a large company and my workload is pretty demanding from January to April, so I'm kind of glad the lakes are frozen during these months. Once May comes around, I'm on the lake as often as I can be.

Best Regards,

Stever

I grew up in Minnesota and live in eastern ND and would have it no other way. If I lived in the south, I would ##### about something else. I live here so I ##### about the long winters. I am happier when I have something insignificant to complain about. It sure beats earthquakes!

I love the people around here, the great access to outdoors, the close proximity to the great north of Canada, close to "real" people, not teflon fakes. A smile and hello is still somewhat sincere and the seasonal changes make the good weather that much more desireable.

I do have to say, if I had a choice, I would get rid of mosquitos long before I would give up the cold weather!

I've never lived in a 1 season climate, but I'm sure I never want to. Can you imagine Christmas morning, and its 80 and sunny? No way, I love spring, and fall. Summer and winter make it all worth while.

The snow keeps the people away, if California ever has too big of an earthquake and everyone wants to move, I hope they all move to Florida!

Hawgeye, you have no idea just how true your post really is, it is incredibally accurate. I grew up in MN/IA, but have been out here in WA state for the last 10 years. I have noticed that most, not all, people out here are what you call "teflon fakes". Most people out here are insincere and very multi-faced and would not hesitate to knock you down to get what they want. This is a big reason why I want to move back to the midwest. Although I have access to some of the biggest walleyes in North America in the Columbia River system, it is not readily accessible being a minimum of 3 hours away. Be happy with your life in the midwest, overall, there is no better place to live, especially for the outdoor sportsman. Be home soon Mom...

Well, I don't live in MN, but just a little ways north of that. Up here we have four seasons: winter, trying to forget winter, almost over winter and get ready for winter. But I love it all. The anticipation drives me nuts, but once the 3rd Saturday in May rolls around, it make the wait worthwile. Plus, the six months of hard water gives me plenty of time to buy toys for the next season!!!

You know, I have lived in the northland all of my life, and I have always been one of those "four seasons" people. Then my daughter moved to Hawaii, and I spent 3 Christmas days on the beach in 80 degree weather. I went shore fishing every day. I caught a striped marlin trolling in 1000 feet of water 1/2 mile from shore. I fished next to a coral reef and caught lots of very strange looking fish. The last time I didn't even take long pants. Would I miss winter? Maybe a little. Would I ever move to a place like that? In a heartbeat.
