I have read most of the recent messages concerning props. I have a 90 hp Mer. on a 17 Mr. Pike with the factory 3-blade al. and I need to get a spare prop. Will the comprop 4 blade due? Is it better to go with al. and be able to have it repared a time or two? Or get a SS and use the factory prop as a spare? Any input will be appreciated.

go with a s/s you should see a little better perfomance with your hole shot and possibly alittle more speed. besides the s/s is much more durable.

If you tend to keep your boat out of the rocks I would opt for getting a stainless prop and keep the stock aluminum as your back-up. Can't comment on Comprop as I've personally never used one, but the majority consenus of this board has been negative to the durability of Comprop. If you do go stainless steel I would recommend going with an O.E.M. Merc prop rather than an aftermarket.
