Distance from Huron to sand bar? Anybody know

Ive been running 27mi from west harbor to the sand bar and I love the ride. But it's a little tough on gas and I wanted to spend the last couple months of the year at Huron. Anybody know how far itis from the boat basin in huron to the middle of the sand bar?

I think it's about 18 miles from the Huron River light to the "cup" on the west side of the bar.

I looked on one of Dean Clifton's map and he has a straight line to 35/21 line is 16.5 miles, this is fact.. It depends what you call the center of the bar everyone has there point of reference, depends on who you ask.

Its a little closer to the bar to launch from cranberry creek marina.

You guys got me wondering if Vermilion or Lorain was closer, and Lorain is closer by about 3 miles. Now I'm talking about to the center of the bar (the narrowest spot between the cups). Once they get west of the 22 line...Vermilion is closer to the fish. Not a big deal.

Here it is: Starting with the 41/36 52.8 82/19 57.4 spot, it is 12.8 to Lorain harbour; 13.1 to Vermillion harbour; and 18.4 to Huron harbour. I have a lakemaster map and could email you a pdf with mileages for anyone who wants it. send me your email and a short message to exexecoh@aol.com BTW it is a really good color map with 3 ft contour lines.

Well I was asuming going into the river to the nearest dockage, but your point is well taken, ie. there's not enough diference to worry about. And as I said, when the fish move west (which we all know they will) then Vermilion will be considerably closer.
