Shad raps vs suspending shad raps

Any experience with the suspending being more effective in general than the basic shap rap? Or just something else to buy and cast!

Suspending presentations are often the best in cold water conditions, they offer a stop-pause-hover and go appeal.

Cranks with a higher degree of buoyancy can produce a different set of appealing actions such as bump-pause-float up-dive. These can be better in warmer water speed trolling conditions to cover ground fast.

Casting the suspending Rap offers the same appeal, stop-pause-hang-pause-go. Sluggish fish holding on cover get suckered out with this type of presentation and often produce strikes were a steady retrieve may not.

They each have a place and do there jobs very well, so conditions dictate there use more often than not.

Trolling is my best coverage plan as you get a chance to get the Rap in front of more fish, like on expansive flats in post spawn situations. Fan casting works well too if rip-rap or cover is abundant. Warmer water is when I see this being most beneficial, again a post spawn situation.

Trolling makes sense for greater water coverage, my real question is would you use the suspended type for trolling?

The suspended type does have a rattle which I don't believe the standard rap has. Because of that would you use it trolling, or limit the suspended rap to casting where you can utilize the suspended feature?

I'm not a troller but I know alot of guys have good success using the suspending baits when trolling around a point. As you turn the boat the lines on the inside should slow down or even stop, so by having a suspending lure it will stay at the depth you were running at, alot of times triggering strikes.
