I took the run again up to Oneida this weekend-almost a year to the day that I first fished there. Although I had frost on the boat and the temp in the 20's when I launched-it was nowhere near as cold as last year. I started at 4:30 am flatlining the shore with silver/black Rogues and Renoskys-heading west out of Godfrey Point towards the Cleveland bar-first fish was at 9 am-big smallie in 30' of water off another reef on a perch # 9 Shad Rap (deep diver). Picked up first eye (20") on same Shad Rap about 1 pm out by the buoys (I think 105) and then nothing for next hour. Picked up lines and ran east to troll the 19-30' breakline that worked the previous trip-set up with perch and white pearl Shad raps-had an eye on the perch color before the other lure was out. At dusk the pearl went off with another eye, the last one of the day-getting off the water at 8 pm.
Started Sunday at 7 am-had a limit in the boat by 9 am trolling east of Godfrey Point on the breakline-all on the Pearl Shad Rap. Trolled the eastern section of the lake, picking up another 3 throwbacks (would have been keepers) by 11 am-1 on the pearl Shad Rap and the other 2 on Blk/slvr Yo-zuri minnows fished behind the boat on a 4 oz snap weight 18' down in 30' water. I watched so many fish come up to the weight and go back down on the Lowrance-it was frustrating that fish came up to the snap weight and didn't hit the lure-which I started out at 25' behind the weight and shortened up to 10 (actually I caught 2 on the this rig-1 at 25'setback and 1 at 10'set back). Total of nine eyes in 1 1/2+ days. Not as good a trip as i was used to.......
