I'm looking for a 6-7 XL size life jacket. Where could I purchase such a vest?
I buy all my clothes from the Kingsize catalog, but unfortunately they don't sell fishing accessories.
I had considered tying 2 or 3 regular life jackets together, but that would just look to silly!
What I'm interested in is a life jacket that is as lightweight as possible, while still affording me a stylish fit for easy casting, and flexability in the landing of any fish I might catch. (Even Jinxs catch fish, from time to time!)
I suspect that my large frame is the result of all the farm chemicals in our water here in NW Iowa. After all I hear Iowa is suppose to have the most polluted water in the midwest. I'm just happy I didn't grow an extra limb or two, due to the affects of these run off chemicals.
To tell you the truth I've been taller than every one of my teachers since the 3rd. grade. And i have continued to grow to gigantic porportions. I am currently 6'8" tall, and weigh in excess of 470 lbs..
So you can see the dilema I would be faced with in my search for a well made, yet stylish life jacket. That could provide the safety features that every avid fisherman looks for in a vest!
Ooooh! Please...keep the fat jokes to a minimum, I do have feelings! And believe me when they say "One size fits all" they never fit me! And I don't want to be relinquished to having, to wear a MooMoo style life vest.

Try either of these.

Cabela's
STEARN'S BIG MAN FLOTATION VEST
ITEM: IB-94-0226
SIZE: 4XL/7XL
COLOR: NAVY, GRAY
PRICE: $49.95

Bass Pro Shop
Belted Boating Vest
$44.99 38-601-057-60 BLUE 4-7XL

As to lightweight and stylish, frankly there aren't a load of those available, that really work.

My main concern with a vest is that it keeps me alive in rough water. Besides, the only time anyone would ever get to see me in my vest is when the waves are running 5 feet or more. Given those conditions, I could frankly give a #### if I look stylish or not, because I'm more interested in staying alive then impressing anyone with a classy vest.

BTW - I'm a big guy who shops for 5X and above.

Cabelas has 4x-7x for about 65.00

I usually wear a 2X in shirt sleeves, but when I'm in the warm
stuff I bulk up to almost 7X. I have the Stearns, it comes with
crotch straps so the vest will not slide up and over the bulk
leaving you helpless.
Though I haven't had the opportunity to test this vest personally
(thankyouverymuch) I believe it will do what's needed WHEN it is
needed.

I got mine at WalMart 5X, same as the Cabelas Stearns vest. Watch for their (WalMart) spring fishing sale... I paid only 32.95 for mine. I have also had the one from Bass Pro.....junk..don't do it.

Just poke a few holes for your arms in a small 12' aluminum boat. Cradle your head in the bow and rip the transom off with your teeth to make room for your feet. Grrrrrr. :)

On a more serious note, it sounds like you're more prone to die from heart disease than from drowning. I follow this board daily for the good information I receive here, so I hope this reminder is taken by others seriously and without offense.

I'm often amazed at the number of guys who visit this site that, if walleye fished for us, would be world records. Days fishing are only deducted from one's life if no twinkies, doughnuts, chips, brownies, and the like are eaten while enroute to or while on the water. If you want to prolong your fishing days and make them more enjoyable too, live a healthy lifestyle.

Dodge 1, Hawgboy, Jay, & TBO/MN,
I'll check out Cabelas next time I'm going through Owatana, Mn..
I appreciate your help, tracking down those big vests, with out preaching to me the evils of eating twinkies! Sincerely, Thank You!

Gunga Din,
Some of us choose healthy lifestyles, and some of us don't. We that don't, have all heard the reminders, from them that do. Thank you!

Should I die an early death, just think of all the more fish you can catch. Once I'm gone maybe you'll catch your daily limit, every day! But thanks for your concern anyway.

Dinky --

For comfort, nothing beats Sospenders. But, I don't know if they make one rated for over 400 lbs. I can wear Sospenders and forget I've got them on. But, I'm a mere 215 (which my wife says is much too much).

Take care big guy. Even taking your share, there's still plenty of fish to go around.
