Buddy and I launched my Yarcraft 2050 at the DNR ramp near the Saginaw River mouth today. Very shallow- my prop churned mud at the end of the one dock in and the skeg was stuck briefly. Good thing we didn't have a Southwest wind blowing...
No catch, but a beautiful day to be on the water.
When we returned, there was a DNR crew at the launch planning a dreging project. We learned the project will start next week, last up to 2 weeks and the launch might be closed while the dredging is underway. Both the launch basin and channel out to the shipping channel will be dredged, so access should be much better once it's done.
If you plan to use that launch in early April, call ahead to the Bay City, MI DNR Fish and Wildlife office and find out whether the launch is open.
