I have always fished with std. fixed weight bouncers and would like any input on the changable weight bouncers being sold by Lindy and Cabela's(I'm sure there are others too, these just came to mind). Is anyone using them? Any bad side effects that get overlooked when only thinking of the simplicity of the system. The whole idea seems ok and efficient but I don't have any experience with them. How durable is the weight and stopper system. Any info, good or bad, would be appreciated..Thanks,RJ

Greatest invention since sliced bread. Used them all last year and had excellent results. Used the 1/4 ounce as a standard then added and subtracted as needed according to depth. I fish western reservoirs that have alot of edges and drops. If you snag the weight will pull off and you get your rig back.

Two years ago one of my regular partners "discovered" the sliding weight bouncers and brought them to Canada with him. The rocks ate weight after weight until he ended up in my tackle box using my old fixed weight bottom bouncers. The sliders are the nuts on a clean or smaller rock type bottom but not on the lakes we fish.

In using the longer wires, one can slide the weight up and eleminate the weight being on the bottom, therefore the wire is making contact with the rocks and junk and the weight is riding above all the obstacles on the bottom therefore creating less snags. Just my thoughts. dc

RJ, I could write for at least an hour on this question.. but I'll "Spare" everyone the pain..:-) There's allways more than one way to skin a cat... and more ways to use a bottom bouncer..How high or low you adjust the weight gives you different options.. Sometimes a fixed weight bouncer is the way to fish some presentations!! The best advice I can give you because they can say it better... is if you either have or can borrow a copy of Critical Concepts # 3 by In-Fisherman...They devote a bunch of pages of text and diagrams on rigging.. on this subject.. probably more than you ever thought you would need to know.. :-) Hope this help's... I have used them for several years. I do occasionally lose a weight but I figure that if I had a standard bouncer on there, I would lose the entire rig, not just the weight. I don't use anything else anymore. The separate wires and weights are easier to store, as well. Cabela's has some new "no-tangle" wires this year. The spinner rigs twisting around the bouncer has always been my biggest pain with bouncers - I hope that the new wires ddo away with that.

I really like the slider bouncer weights. Saves the hassle of having to unsnap the harness, untie the bouncer weight, then snap and retie. the slider you just have to unsnap the weight and snap in a new one. As for snagging up or having the weight pull off. That's a simple fix. Snagging just slide the weight up higher on the wire. Losing the weight too easy? Just put a small kink in the wire like so: -^- .
This works for me. I also like the fact that I can change from bouncer to crank really quick if needed.
Hope this helps.
