I went out with a buddy friday (my day off), could not believe the amount of boats. Had to of been 50 or so. But any way the thing that concerns me is the walleye have to be 15 inches to keep. Most of the walleyes I seen caught where under that slot!! And the depth that they where coming out of was about 70 feet. When you bring them up from that depth there air bladder (?) comes out of there throat. Thease fish are DEAD maybe not when thrown back but you can bet they will DIE.
I seen at least 50 boats with 2 to 3 people in the boats catching fish that have to be thrown back. That is a lot of dead fish in my book!!!

Yes I had to throw some fish back that I know are dead by now. But maybe something should be done about all of these fish!? Is there anything a person can do when a fish comes out of this depth that has to be thrown back to help it live???????

Thanks fishtrap3

Most of those deep fish you saw were sauger. The eyes tend to be in shallower water. The simple solution to saving those deep fish for another day is not to fish in water that deep. There are plenty of fish in the shallower water and they tend to be larger.

No the fish I caught at that depth where also walleye I know the differance. And the ones that where thrown back by others also had walleyes mixed in. Yes there where sauger and saugeye mixed in also.
